He has asked her to stop accepting cases to investigate. Two weeks before the wedding, Molly is asked to look for a lost or stolen jade necklace, which seems safe enough until she discovers Lee Sung Tai really wants her to find and return a concubine that he imported illegally from China. There is much description of Chinatown in 1903 along with corruption in the New York Police Department as she tries to figure out who murdered Lee Sung Tai. It remains to be seen if Molly will stop detecting after she is married. ( ) Oh my Molly! Having been sent to work on her wedding with her soon-to-be mother-in-law, Molly is thrilled to be rescued by her dear friends Sid and Gus for a wedding party on her behalf. In true Molly fashion, curiosity begs her attention as she apprehensively takes on one last seemingly innocent case to find a jade necklace for a very powerful Chinese man. Of course, nothing is ever cut and dry for Molly, and she finds herself torn between what is best for her safety and doing the job she was hired to do. Having decided to resign from the case, it only gets more complicated when Molly's client is found murdered. While be questioned by the officer in charge of the case, Daniel arrives at the scene and is none to happy to see his blushing bride in the midst of a crime scene yet again! Oversimplified dialogue and over-wide-eyed POV from the lead character made me disappointed, but the caper was good, the locational color in NYC was great, and I could see where she wove in historical references to women's suffrage, Chinese gangs, etc. Not compelled to read others of the author's, though.q Oversimplified dialogue and over-wide-eyed POV from the lead character made me disappointed, but the caper was good, the locational color in NYC was great, and I could see where she wove in historical references to women's suffrage, Chinese gangs, etc. Not compelled to read others of the author's, though.q no reviews | add a review
