Diehard fans of the TV series may enjoy the adventures of the Russos in text format, but most are going to be put off by the stilted dialogue and thin plot lines. While younger grades are the most likely audience for this series, the vocabulary is complex enough that it could be a source of frustration.
Two books were reviewed--
* The Wizards of Waverly Place: the Movie (Junior Novelization) which follows the movie almost word-for-word and includes 8 pages of photos;
* Spellbound, which includes stories based on two of the episodes (no photos).
In both cases, the attempts to translate a humorous TV series into print fall flat.
