I'm pleased to say that unlike past B&R collections, volume 3 is 100% great, without anything that feels like filler. The return of both the Joker and Doctor Hurt is well-done, and the whole thing nicely dovetails into both the time travel story from Return of Bruce Wayne, and the Batman Incorporated series to follow. Grant Morrison's long-running Batman epic comes to a close as the new Batman and Robin struggle against multiple foes, Joker continues his war on the Black Glove, and we finally find out who Doctor Hurt really is. Also, the Batman "family" enters a new phase. ( )

By now we should know, that Comic Book Characters do not die. [Not] Surprisingly Bruce Wayne makes his return from being lost in space in time, but not after first being tried to resurrect some sort of Zombie batman, and the real Batman (Dick Grayson) killing Batwoman (Kat Kane) and having to bring her back to life. The joker makes his inevitable return and Robin tries to do what his father never could. For a 10 year old kid, he's amazing. I wanted to be Tim Drake when I was his age, I could only imagine how much I would have loved Damian Wayne at 10.

I like predictable campy stories, and this makes a good bridge between the Batman 66 stories and the Dark Knight stories. This "Batman Incorporated" idea however, I don't see that sitting well. ( )

I inhaled this; it felt like coming home after my disappointment with [b:Batman - Time and the Batman|13362464|Batman - Time and the Batman|Grant Morrison|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61ddyD99r1L._SL75_.jpg|18591054] and [b:Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne|8544958|Batman The Return of Bruce Wayne|Grant Morrison|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1320544991s/8544958.jpg|13412756]. The insane promise of volumes one and two is fulfilled here with the return of three key villains, two of whom face off against each other, trying to use the new Batman & Robin team of Dick and Damian as pawns. Despite all the craziness surrounding his death and return, when the original Batman shows up it feels just right. And the setup for what comes next - Batman, Inc. - just makes me want to read that, too. (Even if I've heard it's not that great.)

Batman & Robin is some of the best Batman I've read in years. I hope there's more! ...Patrick? ( )
