I liked this book for a number of reasons. The writing in this book was very organized into cause and effect. Also, this book taught a lot about problem solving. Anu knew there were ghost in her closet and with the help of her imaginary friend, Hanuman, they devised a plan to get rid of the ghost for good. Lastly, I feel this book really pushed the idea to readers that it is ok to be scared and nervous about new places and things. Just always remember to never give up and give it all a chance and everything will be alright. I highly recommend this book to children who may be feeling like they can not overcome a fear. This book will surely help them get over whatever it is they are afraid of and let them know it is alright to ask for help when doing so. ( )

I liked this book because it gave insight into another culture and religion that many people, both children and adults, do not know about. This is the story of Anu who prays to the monkey god Hanuman to get rid of the ghosts in her closet. The story tells of friendship and fear and also belief in a power greater than yourself. This belief allowed Anu to overcome her fears. ( )

I liked this book, because it provided insight into another culture's religious beliefs to offer protection and help. I did not know much about Hinduism and their gods of a polytheistic religion. I also liked how the author used key elements of a text to help readers understand what was going on in the text. At certain pages of the text, for example, when she was talking about addressing the monkey god for protection to eliminate the ghosts from her house, in order for her to address him; she had to add -ji to the end of his name to show respect and to welcome him to her home. It was cool to see that this could be a folktale for another culture, rather than other nursery rhymes that American's love. The overall message of this story would be to stick to your beliefs, because in the end they will help you overcome your own fears. ( )
