The illustrations are simple and the font standard. There is a moral that performance levels are not all that, but participation is everything. The cat and all of the other cat children were portrayed humorously and with humanity. An engaging activity could be to recite their own rendition of the song. You can do a word with the children by removing the first letter of the word to create new rhyming words with other letters. Its "Parents Night" at the school, and the class is preparing to sing in front of the parents, and a shy cat named Splat is nervous about singing flat and possble forgetting his part. This I can read! is a great book to have in the class as it touches topics of fear, shyness and the ability to try. Children age 4-8 will enjoy reading this funny story that only has two to four sentences on each page ideal for new readers. no reviews | add a review
