It was very educational with regards to what people in the early to mid 20th century thought of the Romanovs. These articles, edited by Paul Gilbert, were written by people who actually new these members of the Russian Imperial Family. Countess Alexandra Olsoufieff's section on Grand Duchess Elisabeth Feodorovna was very beautifully written. By contrast, Princess Catherine Radziwill had nary a kind word to say about this saintly grand duchess. Everything the princess wrote about "Ella" contradicts what we know today to be true. Albeit, her words were written in 1920. Still, I wish that Paul Gilbert had set the record straight rather than just present these long-lost articles for our reading pleasure. A highlight of the book for me was a section entitled "Flight From Russia". It contains diary entries written by Louise Mountbatten, Queen of Sweden, during the early days of the Russian Revolution.
