Really, I would have finished the book much quicker if I hadn't kept getting distracted by other matters. Anyway, the novel was a great conclusion. It gave no pretext that the struggle between the assassins and templars is over; actually it left off slightly with another conflict already taking place in the Far East. I think the author ended the tale of this character quite well. Through three novels, the audience was allowed to witness Ezio's life change from that of a boy, to that of a young assassin, and finally Mentor. He certainly earned that title. But beyond the main character, the side characters also had moments where they held my intense interest. Claudia was a remarkable sister. And even some of Ezio's lovers over the decades were very strong-willed women, such as Catarina. I was very pleased to see that Sofia was to become his last lover though and that they would produce two children during their short marriage. Overall, this was a wonderful novel.
