With only two books left to go in the series, I knew to expect to have that devastating moment where I find myself saying "Nooooooo", and will be left with that hard to get over book hangover. I was dreading it and anxious for it at the same time. I know, I must sound like a masochist, but it's the good kind, believe me. A book hangover masochist. What better kind of hangover is there? But I also knew that of course it was going to be great and of course it was. In fact it was amazing, I loved that Richelle Mead decided to give us two perspectives this time around. I love, love hearing from Adrian, he is one of my favorite male leads in a series. I've been rooting for his ultimate HEA since the beginning of the series. Sydney is continuing her journey into the magical world and her and Adrian's relationship is heating up. Adrian is still dealing with the lows and highs of Spirit and wanting to do right by Sydney. Of course having her sister Zoe there doesn't help their secret romance and their already sneaky rendezvous from the others. Towards the end of the book I started to get that anxious here it comes feeling. I knew this chapter of Adrian's and Sydney's relationship wasn't going to end well. So now I'm feeling devastated and can't wait to see what happens next. Things for this series has gotten even more interesting and intense. With a nice little cameo from some of the Vampire Academy gang and Adrian finally getting some respect from them as someone they look to for guidance. The Fiery Heart was the best book of the series so far. The story, writing and familiar characters I can't get enough of has me I ruing the day of it's conclusion. Fiery heart: Spolier Review I really loved this book! It was interesting again to see how much Sydney has grown in this novel and how complex their relationship has become. I also loved seeing how all the side characters were developed in this book. It was a welcome surprise to finally read adrian POV in contrast to Sydney and how they both view the same experiences. The presence of Sydney sister throw the book into a loop and effected the little group in many ways. I was so outrage by the hate that it made me so annoyed but i guess that was kind of the point of the book. I did not see the ending the coming and it was so scary and such a sad ending because Sydney sister utterly betrayed her and i had not idea what the next book was going to be. I really loved the story that was told in the book and was glad i did not have to wait to read silver shadows! I’m obsessed with this series. I can’t get enough of the characters and the world. I’m excited to continue but I’m also nervous that the author will disappoint me.
My New BFF
I really like Sydney as a main character. I was getting a little tired of seeing though badass, tough female leads. I’m glad Sydney has all her little insecurities and that she’s trying to get through them like the rest of us. It probably doesn’t help being around those perfect vampires all the time. I find she’s a very relatable character, minus the whole magic and vampires thing. She’s been put into a tough situation and I think she’s doing a really good job of turning it around. I’m excited to see what she does next.
My Crush
It’s impossible not to fall in love with Adrian while reading this book. I think it’s the fact that you can see him fall in love with Sydney and try to adapt to be with her. He knows it’s not going to be easy but he still sticks around. I think that’s pretty brave of him especially since he knows what the alchemists could do. I think all his interactions with Sydney are great. He’s either super cocky and hilarious or he’s 100% in love with her. It’s pretty cute actually.
Writing Style
I’m loving Richelle Mead’s writing style right now. I loved it in VA but I think I like this series more. I find she’s really good at character development because all her characters have such great personalities. She’s also great at making them feel very realistic.
Her plot and world building are also great. There are some things that you’re expecting to happen and they sort of do happen but with tons of extra plot twists. You know exactly who you can trust for sure but then some people you’re nervous about. There’s just so much going on that it’ll keep you entertained for a while.
Closing Thoughts
I’m obsessing over this series. I’m addicted to Adrian and I want to see what happens to all the characters. I’m hoping for another series once this one is all done. I’m glad I waited until all the books were out so I could binge read them. It was worth it. I’m upset with myself for not reading them sooner though. I think that if you’re tired of all the typical vampire romance stories then maybe you should give this series a try because so far, it hasn’t disappointed. ( )
