Saleh Omar ankommer London fra Zanzibar en ettermiddag i november. I hjemlandet var han huseier, ektemann, far og innehaver av en møbelforretning. Nå er han en asylsøker med en stjålet identitet. I London bor også den stille og ensomme Latif Mahmud. Når han og Saleh møtes viser det seg at de har en forbindelse som gjør at gamle uenigheter blusser opp igjen.
