Yes, I am an adult, but it is one of my guilty little pleasures in life. I especially love it when authors take the traditional fairy tales we grew up knowing, and tweak them and add some twists (and hot werewolves!). Yes, I have a thing for werewolves too. Selena is a 17 year old girl that lives in Texas with her grandmother who has raised her. She has no idea who her birth parents are, but hopes to find them one day. She has always felt like an outcast, and has made a promise to herself that the day after graduation, she would load up her car with whatever possessions she has, and get as far away from Twin Oaks, Tx as possible. She just never realized how soon that would happen. Selena has always had a thing for running, and loved to run in the fields to release stress, and to just run free. Something about that feeling eases her. Until one afternoon, when she meets a handsome stranger, Titus. Little did she know how much this one cutie would change her entire world. Titus was sent to kill her by an evil Queen, or else his entire family would be killed. He is also a werewolf (did I mention how much I love werewolves?). He soon realizes he does not want to kill Selena, far from it, but how else could he save his family who is being held captive by said Queen? Enter the Grimm Brothers. They are there to save her from Titus, the evil Queen, and anyone else that would be sent to harm her. The only way to ensure her safety, as well as the safety of her grandmother and her best friend, Zoe, is to travel to Fallada, where she belongs, where she will resume her role as the Princess of Damu. Is Selena ready to accept this fate? To meet her family? To become a Princess, and leave behind the only world she has ever known for 17 years? Does she really have it in her to save Fallada? I bought this book from amazon!! Daughter of the Red Dawn by Alicia Michaels~~ This is an amazingly beautiful read! I love how descriptive the author gets about the characters and the scenes!! I feel like I'm standing there beside Selena and Titus! I can connect with the characters very easily and who doesn't love hotness in himself, Titus!! Tall dark and sinewy with piercing blue eyes has my heart a flutter. This book is a very fast read that leaves you craving for more. I can't wait to see what else this author has in store for the journey of the other girls and for Selena and Titus!! Beautifully written!! The book has adventure, romance, and action that enchants the reader and has them spellbound. Highly recommended read. Selena gets some earth shattering news on the way home when she comes across a tall dark and mysterious guy that makes her want to run and stay at the same time. She feels a connection to him. When a blow close to home happens, she has to band with some unseemly characters on an epic journey. Selena will have to confront the future and the past and try to live up to the expectations of many many people. Can she do it and save the ones she loves? I really don't want to say too much more or I would give the story away. Note: I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Selena, a seventeen year old girl, actually turned out to be the princess of the lost, mythical land of Fallada in Fae. She doesn't know it but she is one of seven princesses stole from her land and taken into the human world. Now as she falls in love with the werewolf sent to kill her, Selena needs to try and fight the forces working against her, mainly the evil queen, Eranna. First of all the cover really did not do anything for me and honestly I thought it was pretty creepy. I was annoyed at the whole thing when I first started. The interruptions in the prologue and the way that it was developed just got to me. I didn't like it at all and my dislike probably just kept going from there. Selena annoyed me when I first started the chapter. The relationship and connections between the character just didn't seem real. The Grimm brothers did not seem very helpful and everything they said was just boring. The story did not capture my interest nor made me want to read any further. Less narration and description would have made the whole story read more smoothly. Also on http://lrjohnson13.blogspot.com/2012/10/daughter-of-red-dawn.html no reviews | add a review

The attraction between Titus and Selena happened too quickly but I did like the bond that grew between them. The fact Titus could shape-shift into a big, white wolf won me over.
True, there were spelling mistakes and inconsistencies throughout "Daughter of the Red Dawn" but the storyline was fun and I was invested enough to go and try the second book in the series. ( )
