This book feels like trying to reconnect the friendships that you had in high school. There's a part of you that remembers the old days, when everything was fun and interesting, and a part that is (understandably) leery, having been disappointed by the old friend's actions in the past. Still, there's another part of you that thinks that catching up and seeing where everyone is is a grand idea... You will probably ALWAYS be disappointed, because you can't go back. This companion volume tells what happened to the various characters in the Sookie Stackhouse series. Unfortunately I read some of those volumes years ago and only remembered the ones from the last few when I made a point of completing the series. The main characters were pretty much as expected. There were a few I was particularly interested in knowing their future, such as Hunter, Amelia, Bill and of course Sookie and Sam. Nothing super surprising or wished it was different. So, done with Sookie. Why? I don't even... Why? I got this from the library and read it in ten minutes. The list price on this book is $18. Seriously? I don't even like to pay $4.99 for a novella, and they take 30 minutes or so to read. And the "information" in here? Ridiculous. What was the point of this? The "209 pages" is very misleading. The copy I have has only 195 pages. Twenty-six of the pages are just huge illustrations of each letter of the alphabet. Thirty-six pages are blank. So almost 1/3 of the pages are not even text. Those that are, are only a few lines. Some are only one line. I can't believe trees died for this. This series really should have stopped after book 9. I don't know why I keep reading. It's like watching a train wreck. I just can't look away. This is a quick companion piece to the series once you've finished all the books. I personally read these over about 10 years so some of the people I didn't remember. And some of them I was like, wtf why did you have that happen to them?? So fair warning, you may not like how your favorite characters ended up. All in all, a fast read and good follow up to the series. no reviews | add a review
