3.5 Stars ~ The Mating Hunt (Werewolves of Montana #2) by Bonnie Vanak

The Mating Hunt is book two in Werewolves of Montana series by Bonnie Vanak. With this being book two I did not have any trouble picking up on the world or charactors. The sexual tension between Kyle and Arianna was well done. I liked how Kyle took his time and helped her over come her past trauma.

Arianna has a phobia of sex. As a werewolf it is in their nature to be sexual as well as for them to come into heat. They need sex to alleviate the tension during that time of year.

Kyle also has a difficult past with him being a hybrid (wolf and satyar). He has been a drifter for most his life. Keeping his hybrid status a secret.
Both have difficult past to over come before they can come together.

I like to read series books in order, but this book can be read as a stand a lone. The Mating Hunt was a good read. It did not prompt me to want and read the rest of the series, but I did enjoy the story line and sexual tension between the leads. We get lots of sexual tension, hot sex later on, a bad wizard, wolf sex as well as satyar and a couple who must both over come their past traumas and hurts to be together.

Arianna has deep seeded fears. The question becomes will the one that has been her protector since he found her lost in the woods, be the one to allay her fears?
This story wraps around the horrors of childhood terrors and the strength that it takes to overcome those deep seeded fears.
Arianna isn’t the only one with a questionable past. Kyle her protector didn’t live with the Cosby family, that’s for sure, he had his own nightmarish childhood memories. Those times from his past have forged him into a caring protector of Arianna.
These are characters you can’t wait for something good to happen to them. Their star crossed sensibilities may be the one thing that stands in their way. I loved reading this book. It has mystery, and sizzle to keep everything flowing in the right direction. It was a great afternoon read, perfect for these gloomy afternoons! ( )

Back in April, while on one of my endless searches for fun shifter romances, I ran across a new series called The Werewolves of Montana. The first book, "The Mating Chase (Werewolves of Montana)" is a quick read at 54 pages for 99 cents. I decided to take the plunge - the main female character, Beth, is a BBW that has been told she has to take a mate - but since she can't shift her future is up in the air. It was a really quick, fun read and worth the time. I found myself looking forward to the series continuing.

"THE MATING HUNT" by Bonnie Vanak is 178 pages long, priced at $2.99. The Werewolves of Montana once again feature a virginal BBW who finds a man in love with her fluffiness. Arianna was found at the age of 12, mute and unresponsive after being terrorized and nearly raped by a satyr. This has caused her a problem with her willingness to have sex - sorta an issue when you're part of a culture that is extremely sexual. Even bigger problem? She's entering her heat, which makes the males around her even more aggressive, leading to her having flashbacks of being sexually accosted - and when this happens, she shifts. The biggest problem? She's now shifted twice in front of Skins (humans). Since that is a HUGE no-no, the Silver Wizard has decreed that she either be mated within the week, or she'll have to be put down.

Kyle, who found Arianna and has secretly desired her, would love to mate her - but he has his own issues. Seems he's a hybrid... and his "part" is part satyr. You know - the things that sent Arianna into a full-fledged panic. He's managed to keep the beast hidden all these years, but as their desire for each grows, his satyr side starts to come out. On top of all of this, Kyle & Arianna are the pack's best trackers -- and there are three shifter children that have been kidnapped that they need to help find.

As in her first book of this series, the sex is hot hot hot! Expect some bondage, deflowering (I always think that sounds so stupid, but really - do you call it un-virgining? De-virgining?), a little anal play - but nothing too over the top or explicitly descriptive. (There is also memories of / talk of rape in order to forcibly breed, but nothing like this actually happens.) If any of those things are on your hard limit list - you have been warned.

Overall, I really like this series. I think that Bonnie Vanak has done a great job in creating an interesting world of shifters and throwing in some additional paranormals - satyrs, wizards, etc... This is also a pretty intensive book as Arianna brings her memories to the forefront of her mind... and Kyle also confronts his past that figuratively AND literally scars him. Great HEA, too! ( )
