But one day the elephant grows worried - has Sam forgotten him? Sam Who Never Forgets by Eve Rice is an easy-to-read book great for kids just learning to read. There is at most one sentence to a page, but the sentences are often separated onto multiple pages. The illustrations remind me of the popular Little PeopleĀ® children's toys because of the simplistic features and bright colors of the people and animals. This book could be used to talk about responsibility and how everyone needs to remember to do the responsibilities they are given. For children in a classroom, this could be things like washing their desk, turning in their homework, or washing their hands. The kids would also learn from this book what would happen if they forgot their responsibilities. In the book, the elephant believes Sam has forgotten to feed him and becomes very sad. If this was then tied into the responsibilities the children have they could learn that no cleaning their desk or not washing their hands can lead to a spread of germs and they could get sick. Though this book was very simple, I thought it had a great lesson in it and I liked that it could be read by younger kids on their own. This is a really cute book about a zookeeper named Sam who feeds that animals everyday and he never forgets. This would be a good book to read to kindergardeners because there were alot of different zoo animals in it, so I could ask the kids what kind of animals they are before I read each page, and ask what kind of food they eat because Sam feedss them different kinds of food. no reviews | add a review
