A Novella in the Rylee Adamson Series... My name is Rylee, and I am a Tracker. But this isn't Rylee's story. It's mine. Before I lost my ability to think like an adult. Before my body became stuck between wolf and human. Before I knew the supernatural and Rylee even existed. This is the last of what I remember before becoming a werewolf... this is the last of what's important to me. And the moments I fought so hard to hang on to. My name is Alex, and this is my story. Performed by Bradley Foster Smith, Nora Achrati, Tanja Milojevic, Terence Aselford, Nanette Savard, Chris Genebach, Christopher Williams, Brandon Burton, Karen Novack, Lise Bruneau, and Yasmin Tuazon.… (more)

I picked up the first book in the series, Priceless on a whim a few years ago. It was on sale for $0.79, I liked the cover and the blurb drew me in. I hadn't really read any urban fantasy prior to it but I've always loved fantasy and the idea of a more grown up fantasy grabbed me. And it was perfect. Everything I expected and so much more. I proceeded to demolish the remaining available books and Shannon Mayer has fast become one of my favourite authors. All of the books are full of fast paced, well written plots, hysterically funny lines and lots of heart. The characters worm their way under your skin until you're cheering with them at their successes and sobbing with them at their failures. Couldn't recommend the series more highly and will certainly be rereading many many times.

Poor Alex. But at least he saved Deidre. I wonder if she'll make any appearances. ( )

A totally enjoyable piece of fluff that fills in the background on Alex. Bittersweet. ( )

Alex is a lovable werewolf, stuck in a half shift, with the mind of a 2-year old. He’s fiercely loyal to Rylee and the family they’ve created, and like a child, finds joy in the smallest things. This story is from his point of view, beginning when the nineteen year old man wakes up horrified to find he’s now this twisted monster; a submissive that the local pack needs to put down.

This is a very short story—52 pages long—that can be read from any point in the series once you’ve read the first book, Priceless. We get the tale of his first encounter with Rylee, the first salvage they go out on, and find out why he is the way he is.

Definitely an enjoyable read/enjoyable character and I only wish that the story had been longer. ( )
