( ) This book introduces Mike's younger brother Benjie, who at this time is a wide-eyed innocent intent on getting accepted to medical school at the age of ten. Reverend Scot Sloane, the fighting young priest who can talk to the young, is introduced as the proprietor of the local coffeehouse. B.D. drops out of school to go fight in Viet Nam. There he is captured by a Viet Cong, Phred, and the two become unlikely friends. Zonker is reunited with him in Viet Nam as a war correspondent for the school paper. Mike and company start a commune at Walden, where Zonker finds his Walden Puddle and starts his wheat patch. B.D. leaves Nam and reluctantly joins the commune. It is amazing to me how little the strips seem dated now, and I remember how much more powerful and relevant they were back then. no reviews | add a review
