This easy chapter book recounts the discovery of a 5,000 year old man frozen in the Italian Alps. Be aware that it includes very close photographs of the mummified body, which very young children may find disturbing. Unfortunately the book is dated. It doesn't use the name now commonly associated with him, Ötzi the Iceman, and it says that he died from exposure. We know now that he was murdered. The book remains interesting because of the photographs, but should be read with a grain of salt due to historical inaccuracies. ( ) This book takes the reader through the discovery of Otzi the Iceman. After the scientists find otzi and let him thaw out, they begin to do reasearch on him based on his clothes, his stomach remains, his wounds, his hair and fingernails, etc. This is a good book about applying the scientific method based on your discovery. It also takes the reader into what life would have been like for a man living during the ice age. I liked this book a lot, it definitely peaked my interest into learning more about otzi. I found myself googling his discovery after I was finished reading the book. no reviews | add a review
