Loading... Dead Sexy (Garnet Lacey, Book 2) (edition 2007)by Tate Hallaway (Author)More fun fluff, and Parrish continues to be a hottie. Alas, William's taste in women is terrible. I hope he gets a nice one soon. ( ) This is the sequel to the book from my Secret Santa! I liked it, but not as much as the first book. Garnet Lacey isn't very honest with herself or her current vampire boyfriend, in fact she isn't very honest with most people...her ex is still living (dead) in his coffin in her basement. The FBi (a psychic) is looking for the murderer(s) of six Vatican fanatical priests whose bodies were found in a lake that dried up. Garnet's "Inner Goddess" Lilth is making herself more & more felt.... Garnet's "best friend" Izzy's cousin the voodoo queen is making Zombies & is out to get Garnet..... I still plan on reading the next title in the series. Madison, Wisconsin's favorite Wiccan slash harborer-of-evil-Goddess, Garnet Lacey, has yet more drama in her life. Now 6 months into her relationship with handsome and pseudo-dead Sebastian, Garnet finds herself under investigation by the FBI in regard to the deaths of Vatican priests. In addition, a voodoo priestess is in the area creating zombies and Parrish, Garnet's vampire ex-boyfriend, continues to be a rub in the Garnet and Sebastian's relationship. The book was another quick and fun read. While still a little kitschy, the plot moves at a good pace and plenty of steamy love and humor to go around. The kitschiness and the poor editing are what really keep the novel from getting 5 stars. Though loathe to admit it, I think I'm hooked on the series, and will add the continuing series to my "to be read" pile. Book 2 in Garnet Lacey Garnet Lacey is in trouble. After the disaster the Halloween before that ended with six dead Vatican paramilitaries, the FBI has now tracked her down to her occult bookstore in Madison, WI. So now, on top of keeping the fact that her vampire ex is staying in her basement from her current vampire boyfriend, Garnet has to keep the Goddess Lilith from possessing her totally and causing more bloodshed, fend off a horde of zombie minions and concoct a love spell to make sexy FBI agent Gabriel Dominguez more willing to believe her story. But, of course, everything goes spectacularly wrong. I really enjoyed the novel. I love paranormal chicklit for the most part, and the heroine had such a funny way of phrasing her problems that even zombies about to snack on her become hilarious. She has a great quirky worldview. A number of the sideplots wrapped up a little to easily (zombies) while others were simply never explained (crows, William), but the portrayal of Garnet torn between too many men felt real and immediate though the other characters' reactions seemed a bit far-fetched. Is she the only woman in Wisconsin? That and some poor editing (which always annoys me) mean it's not really a keeper, but it was a really fun read, and I'll be looking for the others in the series. |
