First, it was very well written, even as an adult- I could hardly put it down. Second, the pictures, charts and graphs allowed the reader to get a sense of what each era of history was really like in a manner that was very easy to comprehend. Finally I really enjoyed the illustrations that went along with the text. For some of the adjectives and nouns on the pages, the words would be in a font and color that helped portray the mood of the word. I would feel confident allowing a student who was just under this book's reading level to read it. I believe the big idea of this book was to inform readers, in a fun and engaging way, about the history and customs of the Ancient Rome, Ancient Mayan and 1800's France. ( ) no reviews | add a review
