Luke and Lucy's parents threaten to sell their golden retriever, Pistachio, since they don't take care of her as they promised. As soon as their parents' car is out of sight, Luke, Lucy and Pistachio go into the garage. Luke begins painting big white letters on a piece of dark cardboard: Parents for Sale. Watching her brother, Lucy grows impatient and stomps, saying, "Hurry up Replace the sign as soon as possible. Otherwise, one of our neighbors will buy Pistachio." Three families come to buy, trade, or rent their parents without success. As soon as the twins sell their parents to the fairy orphan, she transforms into a witch who wishes to eat them in a stew. Lesson on Responsibility

Children’s Story
Containing Lessons on Responsibilities
Good Graphic Appealing to Children

STORY LINE:
This is a good story with learning lessons of responsibility. Every child has wished for different parents. In this story the twins were not taking care of their dog, Pistachio. Yes, they loved the dog, but feeding, walking, and caring for the dog fell to their parents. When the parents tell the twins, they are selling the dog, the twins decide to change the sign to Parents For Sale.

They find it is not as easy to sale their parents as they thought. They have several customers and sale to none until the wicked witch appears disguised as a beautiful fairy. The witch is mean and ugly with evil intentions. Of course Pistachio will save the day. The story line will appeal to children.

RECOMMENDATION:
I found the language in this story contained words children would not comprehend. I felt it should be geared to a child’s language skills and comprehension. The author may included more complicated words on purpose; the child could ask what a word means and the parent/reader explain the definition. The story-line was a good lesson on responsibility. I believe children will enjoy the premise of the story as children think on a different level than an adult. With help from an adult, I believe children will grasp the concept of responsibility taught in this book.

When twins Lucy and Luke fail to take care of their dog Pistachio, their parents have no choice but to sell the dog. The kids decide that they can’t let this happen. Instead they decide to sell their parents. They change the sign in the front yard from “Dog for Sale” to “Parents for Sale”. Children from all over the neighborhood come to see about these parents because they aren’t happy with their own. Some suggest trading parents. None of this seems like the best solution. Finally a fairy comes and offers to take the parents off of their hands. What she offers is too much for them to turn down. Then her true colors show through. She is actually a witch. Read to find out how this book turns out.

I read this in exchange for honest review. The book is a children's book. I think the book is geared for intermediate to more advanced readers because of the amount of words per page.

The book is about two twins, who have a dog. The parents want to sell the dog because they can't afford Pistachio anymore. They don't have the time or resources to deal with a doggie and the twins.

The twins device a plan to keep the dog by selling the parents. The twins interview a cast of characters, who have different plans for the parents. Read the book to find out more.

Of course, I don't like the scene, where the parents leave the kids at home alone, with the doggie, while they go out.

The book gets real interesting in the end. Things are definitely not what the twins expected. I finished the book within 30 or so minutes, reading it off and on. ( )
