Over a Fence is a short story about a girl and a boy, a dog and a cat, and a rascally fence. I admit to being disappointed that it is a "short story." The characters were a bit cliche, the story lacked tension, and the only word I can use to describe it, is "cute." I wonder why a writer would want to submit such a small example of their writing for review?

Housekeeping Note: I received a PDF copy, which doesn't allow for format manipulation by the reader. I would recommend adopting a different format (such as .mobi) so the reader can see the story in a format (font and font size, page numbers, bookmarks...) familiar to the reader. After all, the writer wants the reader to have an all-around positive experience, so the reader might return for another story. ( )

"Over a Fence" is a very cute love story. Cora had a crush on Drew in high school but he was too busy dating another girl to notice her. Now Cora is back home, living next door to Drew and getting a second chance at making him notice her. The characters in this book were likeable and engaging as were their animal companions. I was definitely rooting for Cora and Drew to have their happily ever after! ( )

Cora and Drew grew up next door to each other and went to high school together. Now after college, Cora finds herself back at her parents house for a while, and Drew is living next door even though his parents have moved away. The major difference is that now there is a fence that separates their houses. Hartman also weaves the old cat versus dog tale into the story, and I smiled about how animals can bring people together. Through the story, Cora and Drew admit to having had feelings for each other in high school but never acted on them. Thankfully, now as adults, Cora and Drew explore their feelings and chemistry in a most delightful story. I would love to read more about Cora and Drew in future books. :) ( )

I received this ebook from Early Reviewers group, thank you.

The novel has perfect cover, except the story takes place in summer rather than winter.
The book is about two people who have always had feelings about each other, but never had enough courage to risk and let it out loud - visible to The Person, until one day when one leads to another. Its a story where two who has feelings and can't bare the fact they are not together, its a story which leads to many quarrels of silly reasons which can be silenced with a smile and kiss.
It is funny and sweet story. ( )
