The Wheel of Time is now an original series on Prime Video, starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!
In Lord of Chaos, the sixth novel in Robert Jordan's #1 New York Times bestselling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, builds his army of Light even as sworn enemies—and supposed allies—move against him.
Now ruling Tear, Andor, and Caemlyn, among other nations, Rand is recruiting all men capable of channeling to be trained as his Asha'man soldiers. The warrior Aiel clans have pledged loyalty to Rand, acknowledging him as their chief of chiefs, even though the Shaido Aiel remain a threat.
Split into two factions, the Aes Sedai of the White Tower and their rebel counterparts both seek to ally themselves with the Dragon Reborn. Rand knows all too well the manipulative nature of the Aes Sedai, no matter which side of their internal war they stand upon. But even he cannot predict just how desperate, cruel, and treacherous they can be.
And in the shadows, the Forsaken and the Dark One are conjuring even more chaos...
Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant #1 New York Times bestsellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

Great ending, but much like the previous book in the series, just too slow for me to consider this more than a 3.5. ( )

Another one that I enjoyed by the end, but that had a very bloated page count and dragged its feet until about halfway through.

Rand deals with delegations from the two separate groups of Aes Sedai and takes a hands-off approach to Mazrim Taim building him an army of men who can channel. Min arrives with the Salidar Aes Sedai in Caemlyn and proceeds in attempting to snag her man. Meanwhile, Elayne and Nynaeve discover a new MacGuffin to go after in Ebou Dar. Rand sends Mat to Salidar on a mission to bring back Elayne. Perrin, Faile, and Co. set out to join Rand. Whew.

The romantic hijinks were entertaining--Rand's love quadrangle gets more and more interesting. Classic "I have to keep you away from me for your own safety" and all of the women are like "Yeah, no."

I'm curious as to whether Rand is actually going mad, or if he hears the voice of the real Lews Therin. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing if my guess about why Lews Therin turns into a gibbering homicidal maniac near Mazrim Taim pans out in the next books.

I did NOT anticipate the twist about Aran'gar. (In the words of Austin Powers, "That ain't no woman. It's a man, man."

Nynaeve's healing powers = awesome. Now when will she get rid of her block? When she does, she'll be unstoppable.

Egwene = yes. ( )

Epigraph
The lions sing and the hills take flight.
The moon by day, and the sun by night.
Blind woman, deaf man, jackdaw fool.
Let the Lord of Chaos rule.

The unstained tower breaks and bends knee to the forgotten sign.
The seas rage, and stormclouds gather unseen.
Beyond the horizon, hidden fires swell, and serpents nestle in the bosom.
What was exalted is cast down; what was cast down is raised up.
Order burns to clear his path.

Book description
