What a bittersweet ending filled with hope and possibilities. I Ended my year with Leigh Bardugo's Crooked Kingdom and it hit me, The Six of Crows series just ended. Is it really just a duology? I need moooore! The second instalment starts with the remaining members trying to gather intel to rescue Inej after she was taken. Aside from trying to get their money from their heist in the Ice Castle and getting her back, new problems arise. Grishas in Ketterdam are going missing with while delegates from Ravka, Shu Han and Novyi Zem have arrived. Characters from the Grisha trilogy also make an appearance and will play important roles in Kaz' ultimate plan. There's more character development in this one. The Crows really grew up by the end of this book, especially with Kaz and Jesper. They face and acknowledge their inner demons, came to terms with it and are working on to get pass it. I hope I get to hear more of them soon (stand alone books? or cameos?). If you like The Grisha Trilogy and Like the Six of Crows then this is a must read. This ended up being a lot better than expected. I wasn't really into it at the start. Maybe because it's been so long since I read the first? Either way the beginning was a little slow but once the scheming started I was hooked. I was also hoping for a teeny bit more romance than what we got but it wasn't nonexistent. I'm happy with how this duology ended! Have you ever met someone and gotten a wrong first impression of them? That's what I did with this duology of books. It started out and I wasn't very impressed by the characters or the setting. Then I gradually developed a grudging respect for the world-building. Then I came to enjoy the characters more and more, and finally became fast friends with the series and learned to love it. Now that I've finished the second book, I'm onto the final phase in the relationship: I'm missing it. The heists were awesomely executed, and the character development was meaningful. Bardugo is a very skilled writer who has clearly spent a lot of time developing her universe. I place her books about fantasy con men and thieves on my shelf next to Scott Lynch and the "Gentleman Bastards". no reviews | add a review

“Crows remember human faces. They remember the people who feed them, who are kind to them. And the people who wrong them too. They don’t forget. They tell each other who to look after and who to watch out for.”
An amazing sequel to the Six of Crows. I loved it even more than the first book. This added depth to the world and the characters. Everything was simply amazing about this sequel. A perfect wrapup to the duology. ( )
