The way all the discoveries from the first two books come back around again, even if only as background. The emotional truth of the tension between daughter and father, and father and daughter's friends. The way this whole book begins where the first one began, but better. The way the ending isn't perfectly happy. Dads. They complicate things. As many children find themselves feeling lonely because of this busyness in a parents life, this is a great wordless picture book to read. Although the little girl finds herself lonely, she uses her time to make an adventure for herself. This book is a great way for children to use their imagination to escape their reality like the little girl does. I think this book shows the reality of how a child's emotions are effected by loneliness and sends a powerful message to escape the exotic world and create their own adventure. Certainly recommend this book for younger readers! I gave this book a 5/5 because it sparks joy and adventure with a father and child, while playing on children's imagination. A father is following their child in a magical land that the child created. They also work together showing problem skills to take down the bad guy. The main theme is love between a parent and child, and allowing a child to express themselves and open up their minds to imagination to explore the world. Also, this book would be perfect for a ELL since it is wordless and they can find meaning with the illustrations this book provides, and may give the child joy. Although it is wordless, this story is filled with adventure. One example of this is the man traveling by boat. Another example is the man, boy, and girl riding on the dragon. The illustrations are beautifully done and colorful. The reason I gave it three stars is because I find the storyline a bit confusing. I think this may be because it is a trilogy and I have not seen the others. no reviews | add a review
