Darren Aronofsky goes all Gnostic and delivers an over-long film packed full of bad CGI effects, inconsistent story-telling and bad acting. There is the occasional flash of something interesting trying to get out but Aronofsky loses it under a layer of bad action and poor characterisation. ( )

Noah saves the animals from the end of the world.

Pretty damn cool. I can see how it isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I love what they're trying to do - taking the grand, mythological aspects of the bible (rather than the lessons the stories were meant to teach) as a starting point for high fantasy, the way Tolkien used European mythologies. If anyone was going to love this movie, it was me. But it's too long, and drags a lot.
