She's an ex-cop and he's the head of a crime syndicate. Heat turns to sizzle and hearts combust when they find themselves wanting more than a few hot nights between cool sheets. After a shoulder injury ends her respectable career as a police officer, Mak also known as Madison Abigail Kinlock turns to the seedy world of private investigations by default. Now her job consists of cheating douche bags and baby daddies dodging child support. Things can't get much worse. Moon controls Arizona's largest crime syndicate. His bronze skin and blue eyes leave a girl breathless even when that girl knows he's bad news. Moon doesn't give a flying fig what Mak thinks; he wants her--ex-cop, bad attitude, and all. How does she resist the dark side when her body craves Moon's searing touch? Things only get hotter in Phoenix when Mak finds herself in a deadly situation and must turn to Moon for help. He'll help but there's a price.… (more)

Even with the repetitive parts, this book was awesome.
A great mystery, lots of action and intensity.
Fantastic characters.
I HAVE to read the next book in this series! ( )

I read one of the later books in the series and was fascinated by it. That meant I had to go back and read the series from the beginning. it's obvious that the many of the characters in the book I read knew each other, so I wanted to get the history of everything going on, including what turned a cop into the boss at an escort service.

Mak spent 3 years on the police force. She had to retire because she fell down and injured her shoulder while she was snowboarding, so she retired and ended up being a PI. One day, while following a cheating husband, she sees guys in suits confronting her _target. She refuses to let them take him away immediately, but then the jerk pushes her over and she ends up with a concussion. One of the guys, Alex Gomez, brings her back to his base of operations and introduces her to his boss, Moon.

Catch Xavier Moon is the head of the Underworld in Arizona. He's not a good guy, but he's not a total bad guy. He's described as a good guy who has to do bad things. He makes sure that certain crimes don't happen because he thinks they are reprehensible. When Gomez brings Mak home with him, there's something about her that fascinates him. The problem is that she refuses to be seen with him because he's a criminal and she's hoping to get back on the police force at some point. Moon doesn't want to accept that because he's way into her and he knows that she's way into him.

There's a lot of interesting things that happen in this book, and the hot sex is really almost the least of it. There are sneaky plans that are going around as well as bad guys who look like good guys. Excellent book.

One thing I really like about this series is that Roberts is a former cop, so she's writing from a place that a lot of us don't have access to. It's pretty awesome. ( )

Sweet holy hell

Why am I just now discovering this author?!?!? This book was so dang good. The blurb drew me in but even then I had no idea or would be this amazing.

The characters were perfect. A mix of controlling, a dash of feisty, add in a pinch of sarcasm, and one amazing sidekick and the perfect story was told. I wondered how this was going to work and never in my wildest dreams did I think it would turn out the way it did. Pure magic.

I cannot wait to read the next book. ( )
