They dont have room for him in the barn because he is so big. He has to stay outdoors in the paddock. Emily, Anna, and Mandy worry that he will freeze in the cold so they come up with a plan to buy him a blanket. Wile looking for horseshoes in the old barn they discover a sleigh. They clean it up and give rides to the people at the winter festival. The girls raise enough money to get the horse blanket and to make snowflake a run in shed in his paddock. Snowflake loves to pull the sleigh and he is happy in his new home. I can relate to this because like the girls in the book I am an avid horse lover. I have take in my share of abused horses and gave them a wonderful home. In the classroom I would ask students what they would do with an abuse animal. I would have them draw a photo and write a small story of their own. I think this book would work well with a Holiday or animal unit. It would even be good with a feelings unit. no reviews | add a review

Review:
This book is about a horse on a farm that saved the day. In winter a horse was supposed to pull the sleigh for the festival. The girls decided to use their horse Snowflake to pull the sleigh and get money for the horse. They do pull it off and it works great!
This is an informational book because it is a true event. The events are true and there are facts in the back of the book about the actual horse and information about that.
Use:
1) Talk about farms and horses
2) Talk about winter festivals, snow, and traditions
