With just a few days to wait until their wedding day, a TV star is found murdered in the small town where Stevie and Zane are police officers. Trying to solve the murder – with multiple suspects, media frenzy, and stalkers of the deceased – and prepare for their wedding at the same time – keeps the couple busy for a few days. This short novella has a good, well-developed mystery and characters that I wish I knew better. The cover says this is the first of a new series. However, it apparently continues from another series the story of the characters and town. There are many references to events in the past which I am sure would make more sense if I had read the other series. I would suggest reading the other series before reading this book. (I won this book from the GoodReads First Reads program.) This is the first novella in the Rogue Vows series, another collaboration between Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh, two authors whose other works I love, and as expected, this one didn't disappoint either. We're back in Solitude, a small town in Oregon and home to the Taylor family. Police officer Stevie Taylor is preparing for her wedding day when the murder of a popular TV celebrity brings chaos and danger to the quaint, little town. Can Stevie and police chief Zane Duncan, who is Stevie's fiancé, find the culprit in time to enjoy their big day? Although not really necessary as this works as a standalone short story, if you enjoy gripping but heartwarming romantic suspense stories, start with the Rogue River and Rogue Winter series and then enjoy this continuation. Despite the fact that this is a novella, it has everything that you would expect from a full-length romantic suspense novel. Really enjoyable. I received an ARC via NetGalley. The latest in the collaborated series between Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh follows the murder of a high profile actor in the sleepy little town of Solitude. The hunt for the killer starts off the first book with a suspenseful conclusion wrapping up in the second. The week before Police Chief Zane Duncan and Officer Stevie Taylor are to be married a monkey wrench is thrown in to their plans by the way of dead body. This wasnt just any dead body though – it happened to be Chase Ryan who is the lead actor in the very popular TV series. The cast of suspects is quite large and grows as the story progresses along with some arson that puts many lives in danger. In the middle of all this chaos Stevie's poor mom is trying to get finishing touches for the wedding in place with no help from her daughter who could careless about the centerpieces or music. I was glad that even through all the mayhem that Zane finally got to call Stevie his wife. At the conclusion to this book you think the killer is in custody but..... This is a short story that is continued in the book by Melinda Leigh "Burned by her Devotion". Despite the fact that this is a novella, it has everything that you would expect from a full-length romantic suspense novel. The characters are not really developed in this book as they have been in the other Rogue River books and were developed there. The story moves quickly and keeps you turning the pages. I read this one in one sitting and immediately began the next. This was an enjoyable read. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. ( )
