About Conrad Wright, who provided a lengthy introduction with notes about the sermons: quoting from the book's back cover, "Conrad Wright, a leading scholar of the liberal Christian tradition, is Professor Emeritus of American Church History at Harvard Divinity School. He is the editor of a 'Stream of Light:: A Short History of American Unitarianism, and author of 'The Unitarian Controversy: Essays on American Unitarian History.' About the book: quoting from the book's back cover, "[This work] includes 'Unitarian Christianity,' Channing's Baltimore sermon of 1819 that provided a party platform for the liberal Christians of his day; Emerson's 1838 'Divinity School Address,' which cut deeply at the traditional philosophical presuppositions of early Unitarianism; and 'The Transient and Permanent in Christianity,' Parker's 1841 sermon that similarly spoke for a new generation."
