this is the recipe of life
said my mother
as she held me in her arms as i wept
think of those flowers you plant
in the garden each year
they will teach you
that people too
must wilt

root
rise
in order to bloom

Read for Popsugar's 2018 Reading Challenge #35: A past Goodreads Choice winner

Just as beautifully written as her first book. It's brutally honest yet really empowering as a woman. Each word felt like it was picked on purpose and strategically placed in each spot. You can tell a lot of work went into this collection and I'm really impressed with how it turned out. I loved how the collection was sectioned off and how it got stronger and more powerful by the end. ( )

I can see the appeal, but I guess that I'm not the _target audience. The messages are too specific and direct to be universal, imo. And I don't like the art, too childish despite the graphic nudity.

I'm not going to read any books by Rupi Kaur in the future. I didn't enjoy her previous book and I found this one even weaker. Definitely not for me. ( )

One of the great things about reading is that it opens doors to other cultures and ways of life. This by Rupi Kaur is one of these books in it she deals with grief, love and empowering herself. A unique writing style that took a little getting use to but a good book. ( )
