This book is a biography picture book following the life of Temple Grandin as she gets diagnosed with autism and faces the challenges of a world that does not understand her. Overcoming difficulty, she rises and becomes who she is today, pursuing a career in animal science. This book is great for kids grades 3-5. I would use this in my classroom when learning about scientists or celebrating differences in each other that make us unique. ( ) I've read everything about and by Dr. Grandin that I've found. I don't have high hopes for this, but if it reaches an audience that otherwise would not learn about her, yay. --- Turns out, it's pretty good. I'm not crazy about the rhyme, but, again, maybe that will help new people find out about this amazing hero. Includes generous back matter. The Girl Who Thought in Pictures can be used in an elementary level classroom as a powerful read aloud. This book goes through the story of a girl with a disability who thinks differently than other students and her struggles with it. This book can teach students about disabilities, especially autism and things they may struggle with. I think this book can be for the primary level and intermediate level. the story of this book is about a little girl who has autism and some people do not understand why she is the way she is.
