This entertaining and insightful young readers’ edition mixes pop culture, humor, and expert analysis for a remarkable account of the indomitable Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Heroine. Trailblazer. Pioneer. This is a young readers' edition of the adult nonfiction book of the same title. Having not read the original book, I can't evaluate how well this book compares, but it is pretty solid on its own. It presents an account of Ruth Bader Ginsburg's life from childhood to the present, touching on important people, events, and cases in her life. Even with being a "young readers" edition, this book contains a lot of information. However, there is occasionally a section that seems to be abrupt. For instance, it's mentioned how RBG returned to work soon after a cancer-related treatment, yet the diagnosis of her cancer prior to this is not touched upon at all. Throughout the book, an ongoing theme is how RBG has fought / is fighting for human rights, particularly in regards to gender equality. The main text is broken up by little sidebars, such as a page about RBG's exercise routine. It is also peppered with illustrations, from photographs of RBG to images of fun and quirky RBG paraphernalia (e.g., online memes). Sometimes these illustrations are more pertinent to the concurrent text than other times. All in all, this is an interesting read for those who enjoy reading about recent history or anything regarding legal contexts and/or equality. no reviews | add a review
