The realities of political integration and continuing migration are now inextricably linked. One measure of the degree of economic and political integration is the extent to which the EC can formulate a common immigration policy, as well as deal with the problem of citizenship arising from the settlement within the EC of millions of people who are juridically foreigners.

This collection offers a theoretical perspective on the processes of migration and integration, examining in particular the dynamics of inclusion and exclusion, the nature of citizenship, and the place of the European Community in the world economy and its consequences for international migration flows.
