I really liked how it starts with the little boy beginning his day, and as he moved through the day, we learn about the different inventions he uses, and the history behind it. I think this would be great for elementary students, specifically 1st and 2nd grade, as the illustrations are vivid and it explains everyday items/their inventors, which younger students could relate to more easily. ( ) This book walks the reader through all the things we use in our daily lives we would not have without African American inventors, such as the alarm clock. I love how the book started with the protagonist, waking up, and then continued through the school day, drawing attention to all the things we wouldn't have without inventors. This book made me stop and think about all the physical things we take for granted daily without coming across as preachy. I also loved how each inventor was pictured on the pages. no reviews | add a review
