Lovely art by Marco Failla, Helen Chen, and Gurihiru. The other artists... eh. The story was great, too! ( )

I found this a little boring - it's meant for a younger audience, but it was oversimplified. More backstory or details about at least one of the characters would have made it more interesting. ( )

Marvel Rising was numbered and titled weird. No need for me to read the rest since I technically already read the ending. ( )

I feel like I am missing something. Regardless, these band of heroes definitely have good chemistry together. Also, I enjoyed the artwork. ( )

This volume collects a series of comics featuring a dream team-up of two of my favorite Marvel heroes, Ms. Marvel and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl! Nerdy high schooler Kamala Khan naturally takes a special computer course taught by none other than college computer science major Doreen Green. And things start going wrong in the class due to another student, an Inhuman named Ember, who is being manipulated by an internet friend to use her new powers to become the supervillain, Emulator. Her powers make it possible for her to bring video game characters into the real world. This sets up some entertaining sequences of Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, and their fellow super heroes Inferno and America into a video game environment. Ember's story is a good symbolic look at the abuse and exploitation that women suffer in the gaming community. I like seeing Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl, but somehow in this volume they are each less interesting than in their own series. Nevertheless, a fun team-up and an engaging story. ( )
