This is a collection of show of Ludwig Thoma's most enjoyable sketches of Munich life in the early part of the 20th century. It includes his delightful Münchner im Himmel and Sherlock Holmes in Munich. Although many of the sketches feel too dated to be humorous today, they are well worth reading in order to get a feeling for Munich in years past. As a warning, however, the Bairisch dialect is extremely difficult in some of the sketches. ( )
