Companion to The Thank You Book this story describes varieties of friendships using humans, animals and a combination. Author Mary Lyn Ray’s writing is delightful comparing the feeling of friendship to “sunshine in your pocket” or how “friends share their secret wonderings”. The writing is straightforward but filled with depth and emotion strengthened by flawless pencil and watercolor illustrations. What also stood out was the promotion of boys being friends along with how friends can be different, you might not always agree, etc. An endearing book that should not only be in every home, school and public library but in every preschool and elementary classroom.
