I love the premise of this series and book one gets us off to a great start. I can't wait to see where Jennifer takes these characters in the next audiobook. (

Very young adult - takes three paragraphs to say what it could in a sentence. Definitely a tell don’t show writer.
Got very bored waiting for the point and gave up.

I think this may be closer to a 3.5 for me, but I have to sit on it a while before I completely decide.

I have some of my normal female protagonists in fantasy gripes, so I won't even get into those with nothing new and interesting to say.

What I REALLY loved about this book and was so compelling to me was the narrative on religion and the turmoil and struggle with feeling disillusioned by what you've known your whole life. I'm excited to read the next books because this can be further fascinating when her brother comes into play and how that is dealt with. (

The story took way to much time to build up. The plot is really great but it felt so rushed. Like 500 pages slooow build up into 10 reveals in 100 pages. Still only can recommend. The spicy scenes are fire. (
