This is hilarious ( ) A one-joke book: Imagine if Harry Potter were an aloof and scatterbrained bodybuilder couldn't do any magic but attended Hogwarts anyway and spent his time overcoming obstacles and winning at Quidditch through sheer brute force. The dumb, juvenile antics kept me chuckling through this first volume, but I'm dubious about how far the joke can be stretched. I'll try a couple more volumes at least. Eh, was this supposed to be funny? Because not one of ‘em jokes was hitting. This is a run-of-the-mill power fantasy whose humor would work better in an animated form. I thought the father-son relationship was nice though. Mash is overpowered and good at everything, so there’s no tension. That’s the joke though everyone is surprised he’s so exceptional. But it just leaves nothing for me to enjoy. Now, he’s not conceited or anything. He’s very nonchalant and calm actually, but I don’t care about him or any of the other characters. I really really shy away from making comparisons because why not view each story as its own separate entity. But… One Punch Man (at least season 1) plays with this same premise but manages to make it entertaining off the strength of the characters alone. It was a real constant temptation to dnf this. SN: The author notes were so earnest and appreciative of readers. Also, do y'all owe the Harry Potter franchise royalties? That's legit the quidditch game no reviews | add a review
