This one book has it all: gorgeous visuals appealing to children, simple text that keeps older children amused and two-year-olds interested, a ghost theme that is not scary, and thanks goodness no morals at all. The two-to-three-year olds in my room went ballistic with the cute little ghosts suddenly appearing on the semi-transparent pages on top of the illustrations. Just magic... Absolutely advised for non-scary Halloween reads. They fascinate me and I know they engage my audience. Oliver Jeffers' use of translucent pages (which reveal the ghosts that do live in the house) is excellent (although you need to make sure the lighting of the room in which you are reading this. I almost missed the translucent pages AND had a difficult time seeing the ghosts) I will read this one again! no reviews | add a review

I'm beginning to think that Jeffers and I are just not on same page, so to speak.
But I did like the group noun "fraid" as in, "a fraid of ghosts."
And I wanted more references to the house used as a model for the setting. ( )
