I've recommended this book in a general discussion of "Best Books in Systematic Theology": http://douggeivett.wordpress.com/2009/12/07/best-books-in-systematic-theology/ Charles Hodge has the rare ability of saying complicated things in simple and direct ways. There is a clarity and even simplicity to these (long) systematics that is refreshing. Hodge interacts well with competing views, and his argumentation is always thoroughly Scriptural. He and I would disagree at points, but I wouldn't dare take him on in debate. Excellent resource! no reviews | add a review
The magnum opus of one of America's most prominent theologians offers an in-depth exploration of theology, anthropology, soteriology, and eschatology. This monumental work, now a standard for theological students, was written while Hodge served as a professor at Princeton, where he permanently influenced American Christianity as a teacher, preacher, and exegete. Includes a comprehensive index. No library descriptions found. |
