THIS IS A ARC REVIEW, and may have spoilers.
I had a really hard time reading this, and writing this review. There are a few reasons for that, one of them, is a main topic of this story… Addiction. Addiction is hard. It is hard on the person going through it. It is hard on the people you love, your family, your job, everything. Talking about addiction is difficult, writing a story, where addiction plays a huge role.. Even harder I would imagine.
I was able to overcome my addiction, on my own, not everyone can. Some, like one of the people in this book, lost their life to their addiction. We don’t now, and especially back in the 80’s, when this story is set, talk about addiction enough. We don’t treat it like the disease that it is. I wont turn this into an addiction PSA. But, if you need help, please, seek it.

This story has loss, death, music, rock n roll, and a second chance for love. While I cried a LOT during this book, I also smiled and had my heart tugged at just as much. Em does a masterful job of making the words on the page, become emotions in your soul. Ones, that at times spill out in tears, other in smiles, and sometimes remembering that once was love who you hurt and who hurt you.
I highly suggest, if you can handle the Tws, to give this story a read. The love story that is there, is deserving of each one of y’all’s time. The heartache, and the healing that is in here, is as well.
5/5 stars.
