While trying to be current with the writings of Yuval Noah Harari, whom I tremendously respect, I came across this book of his ("Unstoppable Us", vol. 1), for young readers (ages 8-11), and I was blown away by how well he explains his ideas in the form so easy for youngsters to understand. I opened it and couldn't stop reading! Oh, how I wished I had my own children as young readers at this time (they are well grown up by now) - I would have read it with them (and to them) non-stop, better than any story or a fiction book!... Harari didn't surprise me with his insights (THAT I knew and admired already), but he amazed me by his engaging approach, understandable to children, while never for a minute patronizing them - well, let's put it this way: talking to them as equals and in a manner that engages them and makes them think and visualize events in their minds. Everything that he says here would make so much sense to them, as it should. History, as he describes it, will never be confusing any more - even though he honestly admits that there are events that are lost forever, things that we will never be able to interpret. And by the way, the illustrations are wonderful as well. Can't wait to read vol.2! ( )

A részletgazdag képeknek köszönhetően úgy élheted át a történelmet, ahogyan eddig soha.

A világszerte elismert történész és gondolkodó, Yuval Noah Harari, a Sapiens című bestseller szerzőjének legújabb kötete a kiskamasz olvasókat vezeti be az emberiség őstörténetébe.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.
Harari wields his literary power this time to cater to a younger audience. The outcome? A treasure trove of fun facts, clocking back to an epic journey of discovery, survival and evolution. As you gradually make your way through the colourful pages of this book to understand what the "human superpower" is, I assure the readers a ton of learning in the process. It is interesting to understand the emergence and dominance of Sapiens among the many human families that once existed on this planet- Unstoppable Us! is a veritable time machine that whizzes through the ages and pauses us to think, while not seeming like a weary cargo of information. Recommend it as a quick entertaining read, which will prove to be an enriching exercise for our digitally fatigued minds. ( )
