The third inexpensive collection of Superman stories from the early '60's, and an embarrassing lot it is. Inane plots, stilted writing, blandly homogenized artwork, and a vision of men-women relationships that would bring shame to an "I Love Lucy" episode. And still, I loved them as a kid (had nothing better to compare them with), and they still bring a pleasant warm nostalgia with them. The best of the lot is the final story, "The Last Days of Superman". It almost succeeded in eliciting a feeling of pathos, until the usual twist ending spoiled things. The worst of them are the ones where Lois and/or Lana connive to win Superman as a husband. ( ) no reviews | add a review
