I’ve devoured two books in no time at all and already have the third in queue from the library. I will say that Chapter 45-47 were entirely unnecessary. Not a fan of the tropes that manifest here, but I still loved this story as a whole. And for the love of all that is holy, read to this on audio! Listening to Zachary Webber read anything is good, but experiencing his rendition of Chapter 32 had me crying laughing right alongside Jacob. I listened to it twice. 10/10 4.5 ⭐️ I’m continuing the journey with Yours Truly, part of Abby Jimenez’s Part of Your World series. This book is definitely cute and sweet. I was initially worried I wouldn’t be as invested in the second book because this book doesn’t follow the main characters from the last book. The setting and some of the characters from Part of Your World return, but the focus shifts to new main characters. However, despite that, it didn’t feel like a complete reset. Rather, it was still connected to the world I enjoyed in the first book, which made it an easy continuation. And Bree who we met in Part of Your World is amazingly awesome! There were so many laugh-out-loud moments and great banter between the two main characters. Jacob was really sweet, though I found him a little high-maintenance for my taste—definitely a bit much at times! But he’s kind and funny, and Bree is so patient, thoughtful, and empathetic. She is the perfect match for Jacob from the start. Their dynamic felt natural, as if Bree just understood Jacob without needing much explanation. I did love that Jacob was into journaling. I think that was a really special touch and I appreciated that about him. The humor in this book really stood out to me. I found myself chuckling often and flying through the pages because the story was so fast-paced and endearing. It kept me on the edge of my seat, eager to see what would happen next. The secondary characters were a highlight as well—Bree’s mom and brother, along with Jacob’s family, added so much depth to the story. One aspect that surprised me, though, was how little attention was given to the fact that Jacob’s brother was marrying his ex-girlfriend. It felt like a boundary that shouldn’t be crossed. That part of the storyline didn’t sit well with me. I also don’t think that we needed Bree‘s brother to have a relationship with Jacob sister. Just seemed a little too far-fetched and unnecessary in my taste. Still, this was a funny, heartfelt story that balanced heartache and sadness with endearing romance. I also loved getting a glimpse of the characters from Part of Your World. It was nice to see that Alexis and Daniel are doing well in Wakan, and I’m glad that Bree and Alexis maintain their close, sister-like friendship. I loved the scenes where Bree and Jacob stayed at Grant House. Gotta love that haunted room, lol. Like the first book, spice level is high. Favorite Quotes: “We’re all a little broken, Briana. We are a mosaic. We’re made up of all those we’ve met and all the things we’ve been through. There are parts of us that are colorful and dark and jagged and beautiful. And I love every piece of you. Even the ones you wish didn’t exist.” “You and me? We're different. We agree to be harmless to each other.” “It’s like I always say,” Mom said, wiping under her eyes. “Love shows up. That’s how you know when it’s real.” no reviews | add a review

A novel of terrible first impressions, hilarious second chances, and the joy in finding your perfect match from "a true talent" (Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author). Dr. Briana Ortiz's life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother's running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that's probably going to the new man-doctor who's already registering eighty-friggin'-seven on Briana's "pain in my ass" scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter. And it's a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn't actually Satan. Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likeable guy who's terrible at first impressions. Because suddenly he and Bri are exchanging letters, sharing lunch dates in her "sob closet," and discussing the merits of freakishly tiny horses. But when Jacob decides to give Briana the best gift imaginable—a kidney for her brother—she wonders just how she can resist this quietly sexy new doctor . . . especially when he calls in a favor she can't refuse. "Abby Jimenez's words...sprinkle humor and warmth all over my life." –Ali Hazelwood, New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis. No library descriptions found. |
