She isn't allowed to go hunting alone, but one night she managed to escape. And after her first killing she meets Valentine, a vampire of the Family enemy of her own. Valentine is immediately attracted to this young woman and couldn't obey to the order to kill her. Instead he kidnaps her and the two begin a journey all around Europe. Prophecy is reckless and rush, she is too young for thinking before acting. Valentine is more wiser, but he is not an impositive character, he not overwhelms Prophecy. The atmosphere is gothic, also for the chose of the characters, but also for the setting (like Prague). The imaginary is vivid and original. The novel is long but manages to hold you till the end. And it is not an end, cause the story of Prophecy and Valentine continues in the next installment "Caelestis & Aurorea", just out. In a paranormal panorama who has witnessed all, the first novel by F.E. Heaton still has a savour of freshness and originality. no reviews | add a review

Valentine struggled with his decision to go against everything he believes in and worked so hard for to help Prophecy and they both struggled with their feelings for each other being that they are from different bloodlines and it's illegality. Valentine had a tough exterior but inside he his gently and caring and it was nice to see how he was with Prophecy even though he was still dealing with feeling like he betrayed his family. Prophecy came across as delicate and naive but she can be pretty scary especially when jealous, she is a total bad ass and quick learner.
The adventures and action ensued when Prophecy and Valentine crisscrossed Europe in search of the truth about the prophecy, and to recover Prophecy's memory in hopes of finding out who she is and where she came from. The werewolves had a unique part in this story, whilst being enemies of the vampires they also are in some way mercenaries or guardians for them. It was interesting to see Prophecy learn about the world she was shielded from and how bad ass she was.
I really liked this story, it was well written and the plot was well flushed out. I wasn't confused, the concept was explained clearly without being overloaded with information at the same time. The vampires in this story were very interesting, they were vampires in every true sense of the word, they had no compunction with killing to sate their need for blood. I thought it was strange that they also wanted to protect those same humans they had no guilt killing for food. I liked these characters, I quickly bonded with Prophecy and Valentine and wanted to see things work out for them.
