It reminds me of 90's prime time tv. Normally I wouldn't take too much issue with that honestly, but it just seemed to be overkill. I also struggled with the weird mix of the modern era but old generation language and even behavior. I recognize some of that is realistic but it drew the focus away for me. I also personally wasn't a fan of this particular art style. It's a relatively interesting story, but I just didn't find it that engaging or interesting. |

For all it's "Afterschool Special" or "very special episode" blandness, the most frustrating part of this book for me was how the kid lit riddle that becomes a key part of the story is never fully shown for the audience to solve even though the answer is later uselessly revealed. What was the point of that? ( )
