Clear and well-written, this book suggests that digestive disturbances and many related ailments are caused not just by what we eat, but by how we eat it. Suggestions range from eating more slowly and chewing well, through to the more controversial food combining (not eating proteins and starches at the same meal).

It's worth reading, in my view, but take the recommendations with a grain of salt, and in conjunction with more recent nutritional advice. The author is a Swedish biopath who writes with authority and experience, but the book is over 25 years old now.

Still, since the recommendations are unlikely to do any harm, they might well be worth trying for a few months if you suffer from chronic ailments that have not been helped by other means.
