She explores the concept of attracting what one wants to one's life through thought, attitude, and expression. She discusses how to adopt the philosophy into one's life and to create the specific things one wants in life. The chapters explain the concepts and provide examples by people who live by the philosophy of The Secret. Each chapter ends with a summary of the chapter's concepts incorporating the actions the reader should take. At times, the reader will think the concepts are so simple they should've thought of them long before. Some claims included make perfect sense. Others will leave the reader with questions. The Secret explains its concepts in easy to understand language and will provide the reader with insight into his/her own thought process at the very least. ( ) This short book is based on the 'law' of natural attraction, or 'thoughts are things'. What you think you draw to yourself, so if you think negative thoughts or a thought with a negative in it (eg. I don't want to gain weight), you will draw those things to yourself and they will continue to happen to you (eg. you gain weight since you are thinking about gaining weight - the 'don't want to' part is ignored). On the other hand, if you focus on a positive that you want, and you are very specific about it, preferably writing it down, you send out a 'thought frequency' and that very thing will be attracted to you and come to pass. My take away - stay biblical in your thinking. The Bible does have support for this kind of thinking: Philippians 4:8 (King James Version (KJV)): Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. So yes, phrase your thoughts in a positive manner (exactly what you do want, not what you don't want) and focus on those thoughts. However, praise God for the good gifts he freely gives those who abide in Him rather than thinking the universe provides whatever you ask of it.
“The Secret” is not really a book but a series of misquotations from historical figures and fraudulent maxims from no-count hucksters. And yet something in that gooey red waxy seal on the front of “The Secret,” and the book’s believe-in-magic glitter, takes me to a happy place.
