Stephen King on that wierd shit again... but I would read the next one ( ) I loved this book I found I could not figure out what was going to happen before it happened. Deep thoughts were brought on think about being a universe inside of a blade of grass and that multiple universes could be in our blades of grass or in the sand on the beach or desert. And to think this whole series started with a ream of green paper I like mystical stories that make you wonder whats next and what all of this means. Yet after the first book I feel that some of the things I've read in this book where just there because it sounded cool for young Stephen when he wrote this. I hope I am wrong and finishing of the series will uncover a lot of things and will make everything I did read so far epic and worth it. It is an intriguing read but more so because of all the high praise surrounding the series than the actual book. I will continue though and this alone for me proves that the book is good and the series is promising . no reviews | add a review

"An impressive work of mythic magnitude that may turn out to be Stephen King's greatest literary achievement" (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution), The Gunslinger is the first volume in the epic Dark Tower Series. A #1 national bestseller, The Gunslinger introduces readers to one of Stephen King's most powerful creations, Roland of Gilead: The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which mirrors our own in frightening ways, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake. Inspired in part by the Robert Browning narrative pum, "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came," The Gunslinger is "a compelling whirlpool of a story that draws one irretrievable to its center" (Milwaukee Sentinel). It is "brilliant and fresh.and will leave you panting for more" (Booklist). No library descriptions found.
