Read only these:

~ Nona novelette (1978) by Stephen King 1.5* I guess that was an unreliable narrator, which I fucken hate. A troubled man (YA) and his female companion and their ridiculous, pointless, murder spree. The story is him telling his tale from a jail cell.

~ Where Spirits Gat Them Home (1978) short story by John Crowley DNF I read for a bit, then skipped about, then quit. There was some religion involved and I wasn't engaged.

~ Where All the Songs Are Sad (1978) novelette by Thomas F. Monteleone 3* wow that was a bit long. An American from an Italian immigrant family finds some old letters of his grandfather's about a missing child and no one seems to want to talk about it. More like the Americans don't know the history. So he heads to Sicily to meet the relatives over there and see if he can learn more. 98% of this book is just that. An American going to Sicily and being a tourist. *yawn* The other 2% is him finding this long lost relative. We finally get to the big reveal and the big secret and it fades to black. What happens next would be the horror story. The missing relative was a gypsy with powers. (or was she just mad?) Her son was accused of molesting a child so the gyspy put a curse on him. Something like 'he'd remain in a sleep until the gypsy dies'. Well the irony of it all is, her protecting her secret, caused a scuffle with a knife and she fell on it. Well her son after laying in a bed, looking pretty well dead for decades, sat up... *fade to black*

~ Deathlove (1978) short story by Bill Pronzini 3* A man on his way to kill the Husband of someone he has fallen in love with, (the woman doesn't know. Killing the husband was the first step in his courtship) dies on the way. His passion for this woman keeps him in this realm and as he spends more time here, he grows stronger. He plans to continue with his courtship, in ghost form. ( )

A collection of 13 scary stories. The only author I know is Stephen King. My favorite stories were: Butcher's Thumb, Dead Letters, Deathlove, Mory and Nona. The other stories were ok, either I didn't get the whole premise of the story or the end just stunk. ( )
